Welcome to the Louisiana Board of Regents Website – your online resource for higher education in Louisiana. Our site contains a wealth of information, ranging from data and statistics to the latest news and developments in higher education.
The Board of Regents, a state agency created by the 1974 Louisiana Constitution, coordinates all public higher education in Louisiana. This includes the Louisiana State University System, the University of Louisiana System, the Southern University System, and the Louisiana Community and Technical College System. The Board of Regents believes that a robust public postsecondary education system is critical in order to enhance Louisiana's social and economic environment. Through statewide academic planning and review, budgeting and performance funding, research, and accountability, Regents strive to ensure that all students have access to high-quality educational opportunities.
In an effort to create a more educated Louisiana, the Board of Regents has adopted Louisiana’s Strategic Plan to serve as a guide for public postsecondary education. This plan provides a broad vision for the State’s higher education system and acknowledges its interdependence with the economy and its many contributions towards enhancing the lives of Louisiana’s citizenry. The outlined goals are guided by the reality that Louisiana must raise the educational attainment of its citizens in order to successfully compete in the 21st century world economy.
