Mark T. Abraham from Lake Charles

Mr. Abraham is a Louisiana real estate broker and co-owner of a shrimp and seafood processing plant; a Cajun Food manufacturer; a mini storage company and a furniture/appliance rental company.  He was appointed by Governor Bobby Jindal to represent District 7 on the Louisiana Board of Regents.

Mr. Abraham received his B.S. degree in Accounting from Louisiana State University and A&M College.

Abraham is an active Board member of Casa Aleluya (a Guatemalan orphanage) and the Council for a Better Louisiana.  He is currently chairman of the Louisiana Shrimp Task Force.  He has served in the past on many civic and business organizations such as the Lake Charles City Council, Lake Charles
Port Authority, Calcasieu Parish Law Enforcement District and the Louisiana International Trade Commission.  Mr. Abraham is also a former member of the LSU football team.

He is married to Gina Abraham, and they have three children.






Through the development and promotion of the Louisiana Transfer degree, a robust articulation and transfer system is now in place.

Graduation Rates are increasing overall.

Louisiana higher education fall enrollment has increased by 16,167 students since 2008.

Working with BESE, the Board of Regents has helped to ensure that more students are graduating from high school ready for college or career. ACT scores are on the rise.
